I began to compose the story of my first night in Bangkok a few years ago when I began the blog, and recently realized I never ever finished or published it.
And you could ask, is it due to the fact that I repent of it?
No. It’s actually rather a funny one.
So why the hell did I never ever ended up writing this post?
Probably since I got distracted again, or puzzled, like I was that night.
So let me tell you what happened my opening night ever in Bangkok, and Thailand.
A bit of context
What was I carrying out in Bangkok?
Did I came for the hot girls, parties, cigarette smoking weed on the island …
In fact, not at all. It was rather the opposite.
I first pertained to Thailand in November 2011, right after my very first year as a bartender.
I was only 21 but currently burnout due to the fact that I worked too much, drunk way too much, and since the woman I was completely in love with broke my heart again …
So I needed to break the circle and to take a while to focus on myself, far from all sorts of drinking and night life.
Here I was, on a plane going to Thailand, on my method to take some rest, think of my life, discover Muay Thai, and chill on the beach.
At least that was the plan.
Landing in Bangkok
On the aircraft, I satisfied some individuals that were remaining at Khaosan Road, among the most famous streets on the planet for tourists and backpackers.
A crazy place with lots of bars, clubs, loud music, drunk backpackers, chuckling ballons, and hopefully … these people.
We remain in 2012, including them as pals on Facebook didn’t come to my mind and I didn’t even use Whatsapp.
So we simply prepare to meet at Khaosan around 9 pm.
One of my friends has an apartment or condo in Bangkok, in Silom, so I’m biding farewell to the men at the airport and get on my way to the house to drop my bag before I join them in Khaosan.
If you have not been to Thailand or Bangkok prior to, the very first time you show up is rather an experience. Particularly if you’re taking a trip solo.
Going through the long line at the migration, seeing signs all over composed with odd vermicelli, individuals speaking a language you can’t even remotely understand … it’s rather intense, specifically after a long flight.
Then you get out of the airport, finally. And the weight of the heat drops on you.
Hot, worn out, confused, I get a taxi to go to Silom at my friend’s apartment or condo and get scammed by the taxi.
So far, it’s the normal very first hour in Bangkok for anybody who’s going there for the very first time.
I arrive at the home, drop my bag, and go directly to shower.
I can feel I’m exhausted however the adrenaline of remaining in a new place gets the very best of me.
I alter and get on my way to Khaosan.
Very First Time in Khaosan
As quickly as I come down the condo I leap in a Tuk Tuk, because that’s most likely the way residents navigate, and I’m heading to Khaosan.
I can’t remember just how much I spent for the flight, most likely way excessive, but I have actually made it to Khaosan, 1 hour late.
For anybody who never ever been to Khaosan Roadway before, how to describe it?
It’s really loud, jam-packed, there’s all sort of smells and weird things going on … it isn’t like anything you have actually seen prior to.
Fried scorpions and spiders on sticks, flames coming from street food stalls, people getting massages in the street beside a live band and drunk backpackers consuming in containers … whatever cliché you get about Thailand is there.
I go up and down the street about 10 times searching for the men I met on the aircraft but I can’t find them, and honestly, I can’t really remember their appearance like.
There are just a lot of individuals, and I’m too thirsty.
After about 1 hour, I offer up. I go to one of the greatest bars in Khaosan road, order a beer, and look at people going nuts in the street.
When things get strange
Time’s passing, I’ve intoxicated about 3 big Leo (the most popular Thai beer) and I choose to play pool. I play 2 games with various individuals and return to my table.
That’s when a Thai woman approaches me and asks me if I want to have fun with her.
I are reluctant, tell her I do not have any cash, however she pays and insists for the swimming pool, and for my beer.
I don’t know how numerous video games or beers followed but I understand that by the time the bar is about to close I have actually lost the majority of the games and I’m quite drunk.
At this point, I’m not even sure what I’m doing here. I simply keep drinking and playing swimming pool.
I can feel the thai dating brides, thairomances.com, lady is getting closer and better to me, laughing at everything I’m saying and she’s intoxicated too.
She’s a bit chubby, quite little, not actually my type, however at this moment of the night (and in my life) I don’t truly have a type any longer.
We kiss. And kiss once again. And when the bar close she asks me if we can go to my hotel.
I tell her I live far away and there’s no chance I’m bringing her to my space.
She asks me if I wish to take a room in Khaosan so we can have sex.
At this point, I end up being suspicious, so I inform her I do not have any cash.
She offers to spend for the space. My dick agrees. And we go around trying to find a short time space.
However every hotel we go to state no.
They’re either completely scheduled or I do not understand what they’re saying.
Then she’s like “I understand a hotel but it’s a bit far”. I resemble “I do not mind, but I do not have any money”.
She says “It’s great, I’ll spend for it”.
So she stops a taxi, we get in, and I got no concept where we’re going.
I do not know the length of time we remained in the taxi, however I think we spent at least 30 minutes therein.
At this point, I got no idea where I am in Bangkok or what I’m doing there.
She stops for a minute to withdraw some money and came back with a handful of thousand baht notes, so obviously there suffices money to spend for the taxi, and the hotel.
Cool.
What is That Place?
The taxi lastly takes a last turn and get in a parking, where somebody closes a curtain behind the taxi.
I got no concept where we are or what is that place.
That’s when I begin to feel a bit distressed.
Are guys gon na originate from behind the curtain and beat me approximately steal my money and my phone? Is this the method people get their kidneys stolen?
She spends for the flight, we leave the taxi and we walk into a room where there are a bed, a weird chair, and a bathroom.
That’s the real photo of the space
Now I think I understand where we are.
I understand it’s some sort of love hotel, thai dating brides but again, who the hell is she?
Why did she accept to pay for whatever? What’s the catch here?
She goes into the bathroom to “prepare yourself”.
I take a look around and I start to freak out. I understand I need to get out of there.
I knock on the door of the restroom and ask “Do you have any prophylactics?”. She says “Yes, one in my bag”. So I tell her “Ok, I’m gon na go buy more at 7 Eleven”.
Prior to she got the time to get or answer out of the restroom, I leave the room.
As I’m getting the eff out of there, push the curtain and walk quickly to the main street close by, one guard who works there begins to scream at me.
Is he asking if I require anything? Is he pissed due to the fact that he believes I’m leaving without paying (which I absolutely am)? No idea. I’m not stopping.
I wave my hand in the air to state: “I’ll be back quickly” and keep strolling actually quick to the street.
Then as quickly as I get here in the street and I get out of his sight, I start to run!
I most likely ran non stop for at least 15 minutes, always looking back to see if no one was following me.
And no one was. Except for some street dogs.
The Walk of Shame
“The Stroll of Pity” There’s no better expression to explain that minute.
It’s about 5 am now, the sun will rise, I’ve got no concept where I am, but I know I’m far from home.
With the assistance of the GPS on my phone that is working despite the fact that I don’t have a SIM Card, I manage to find my way back home.
I walked to return there. And it took me about 2 hours.
I still keep in mind to these days, that’s roughly what the walk I did I was:
A minimum of that was a great way to discover some parts of the city I would have probably never seen by myself.
And then I lastly made it “back house”.
There you have it.
That’s what occurred for my opening night ever in Bangkok and Thailand.
Rather a story.
But absolutely nothing compared to other nights I have actually had after that.
I believe anybody who lived in Bangkok for a couple of years could write a book filled with stories you wouldn’t believe.
Anyhow. If you desire to understand more about Bangkok, read my other posts.
